Re_Generation [Forum Freies Theater, Düsseldorf]

Festival for Pleasure, Solidarity & Healing.

05.05. – 05/14/2023

FFT • Forum Freies Theater – Performance Art Theatre

Düsseldorf, Germany

A Festival of Pleasure, Solidarity & Healing. For ten days, international artists, activists and scientists come to the FFTcome together to present and test practices that respond to a world that is exhausted in many ways. How do we want to live together in this world in the future? Together with the visitors, they try to approach this question and other topics related to exhaustion, renewal and healing. The settings in which this happens are experimental and playfully sensual: a performance in a spa, a listening session full of scents and textiles, relaxed talks over dinner… Visitors are invited to explore decolonial and queer perspectives on exploitation, colonization and learn about capitalism. And maybe to make strategies conceivable together how we can live together in the future – without reproducing the structures that have led to the exhaustion of our resources and energies.

The festival begins with the three-day workshop program Training for Political Imaginaries and then culminates in a symposium in which I will be presenting together with mar-yã work done as part of the series Art-Life Ritual Actions for Radical Tenderness

The invitation to “reattune to metabolic entanglement” through Radical Tenderness consists of making ourselves more available to re-learn and co-sense our inseparability from all other living beings on the planet – as well as from the planet itself – and to nurture an affective space for confronting the complexity of the problems we are implicated in. Radical Tenderness is more than a term, it is a force, a political practice of healing which erupted in the transfeminist community of Mexico and has been rippling and shapeshifting in many other bodies around the world. Dani has been working with Radical Tenderness for over a decade and in this presentation they will share about a recent series in which they invited 12 Brazilian performance artists to create art-life rituals responding to the text Co-sensing with Radical Tenderness, written in collaboration with Vanessa Andreotti and the Gesturing Towards Decolonial Futures collective. Dani will be accompanied by mar~yã, one of the artists that integrate the series, who will be sharing about the work they created entitled Teluric Dreaming, a dreaming of, with, and in the earth. In their words, “they say that to tremble, to let ourselves vibrate, is to co-regulate the body’s frequencies with the earth’s breathing. it is listening to ourselves: the body in relation.”
